Intro
I’ve been a graphic designer and commercial artist for the last 22 years, I studied interdisciplinary design specialising in graphic design in my final year at Bolton Design Institute passing out in the summer of 96. I made my start as a Junior creative at MDA media working on a variety of design and branding for print. After a few years cutting my teeth I decided it was time to move on and took a position as one of the Art Directors over at Cicero (now Giro) Manchester. My role at that time was mainly looking after the Pan European account for Brother International taking care of everything from model castings and set builds to photo shoots, design concepts, packaging and finished artwork.
After some years at Cicero the time had come for me to pursue my next challenge, with multiple contacts now built in the industry and a variety of commissioned and freelance opportunities being offered to myself I decided to take the plunge into self-employment and the freelance world and went on to represent private clients and agencies such as BDH, TBWA, Refinery and the British Council.
Fast forward to 2011 where digital design and artwork had become more and more commonplace with social media on the rise and more people going online to advertise or shop my attention turned to the fashion and retail sectors. After almost 2 years of commissioned and freelance work for online retailers - The Very Group, I was offered a permanent position as senior creative lead for the Very and Littlewoods online teams.
With the digital and technological landscape continuing to evolve and change within the industry it wasn’t long before the paper approach was dropped altogether getting rid of all the main publications and moving all sales online. My current role at TVG has given me great opportunities to work alongside some amazing brands with regular away days and visits to brand HQ’s and lead amazing projects as well as explore new innovations and platforms in this fast moving retail environment.
I’m also a keen music head and I was a professional DJ (not so long ago) and played at a decent level holding down a 6 year residency at the once No”1 club in the world, Sankeys in Manchester as well as producing music for some of the industry greats and playing world venues such as Space, Eldivino and Pacha in Ibiza. I’m an avid shoe lover and sneaker geek as well as a keen gym enthusiast and a self-promoter of well being and mental health and try to live a healthy and balanced existence, I’m a family man and I love my home life. I was also a 90s skater and still enjoy skating indoor bowls and parks as well as getting out on my jump bike. I’m also a member of the Talent house community and involve myself in regular side projects as design is a massive part of my life and outlook. I hope that gives you a little insight into what I’m about and if you’ve got any other questions please feel free to get in touch.
